Transcription history
Revisit recent dictations, copy them again, and control what Ditto keeps on your computer.
How history works
Ditto can keep your 100 most recent successful transcriptions in Settings → History. New entries appear first and include the final text, creation time, Whisper model, language setting, and whether smart formatting was applied.
History stores the text that Ditto actually delivered after optional Qwen formatting. Empty audio and recognized silence markers are never added.
Working with an entry
From the History panel you can:
- Copy an entry back to the clipboard.
- Delete one entry without affecting the others.
- Clear all history entries at once.
Deleting an entry only removes Ditto’s local copy. It cannot remove text that was already pasted into another app.
Turn history off
History is enabled by default. Turn off Save transcription history in the History panel if you do not want future transcriptions stored. Existing entries remain available until you delete them or clear the history.
Privacy details
Only final text and small metadata fields are saved. Audio is never part of the history: temporary WAV files are still deleted immediately after each transcription finishes.
